Editable aspects of Instant Edit website: There are currently a number of features that are available within Instant Edit, some of which will influence your choice of design. Text and Image Areas
This is the most common type of area that you will find on an Instant Edit website. In edit mode a box will appear with the boundary of where you can add text or images. This area must be a fixed width but can be either be a fixed or dynamic height. Whoever is editing the website can add and edit both text and images and also YouTube videos.

Repeaters
Within each page you can have partial "layouts" that can be repeated. A repeated layout of this type can include multiple content areas of different types. (Eg. Text and Image Areas, galleries, slideshows). When in edit mode, the editor of the web page can click 'Add New' to repeat the partial layout.
In the illustration below, The Cafe Avellino "Shop" page displays each product in exactly the same format. Each format includes a name, image, description, price and an 'add to cart' button. This same format is repeated over and over again.

Image Slide-shows and Image only areas
Both the image slideshow and image only areas function the same with the difference of the slideshow rotating between images. These areas must be both a fixed height and width. The editor will be able to replace (or insert if it's a slideshow) only images.
If the image that the editor inserts are not the correct dimention, Instant Edit will position the image that fits best, and then allow the user to drag the image, and zoom in and out, for the optimal position.
Below is an example from Cafe Avellino's homepage of a image only area.

Photo Galleries
Photo galleries allow the editor to repeat partial layouts each of which can contain an image only area. This is done by clicking on 'Add New Image' to the page. The editor is able to rearrange the order of the images by drag 'n' drop as well as deleting images if you wish. Page Previews
Sometimes clients will want an introductory preview of a full page. These previews can be presented in a repetitive fashion on a single page and each preview acts as a pathway to the full page view.
A good example of this would be an e-commerce website that has a list of products presented as small previews. Clicking the preview takes the viewer to a full descriptive page.
